Westin St John Resort & Villas
Has anyone been to the Westin in St John?
Thanks! |
You can find many, many detailed reviews of the WSJ, many of them recent, in the archives (text search box). Write back with specific q's if you have any. Happy reading.

Hi there..we just returned from there..I posted a trip report on this forum..shoudn't be too far down..it's called "St. John...WOW!".
|
I would choose St. John over the Bahamas without a doubt. St. John is an idyllic island - very romantic with some of the most incredible beaches and scenery you will encounter in the Caribbean - IMHO. Two thirds of the island is National Virgin forest and, therefore, the development is kept to a minimum - not a stoplight on the island. Good luck.

St John is great. The Westin was good for what it was but not my cup of tea. It has a lot of organized fun, which I didn't like. There are a lot of people and children, which I didn't like.
The food at the Westin was incredibly expensive and not the greatest---although some of it was good. Their beach is one of the least best beaches on the island. Personally, I prefer a villa. However, it was clean. The rooms were decent. The grounds were well-kept. The service was friendly. The ferry was quite convenient. The day trips leaving from there were convenient. Having room service & gift shop was convenient. Taxis right there were convenient. The price was right. Most places on St. John don't have a beach of their own anyway. If you like to be around lots of people and have organized fun---don't like the off the beaten path, you'll probably like it. |
HI,
WE ARE PLANNING A TRIP TP ST. JOHN IN FEB. 2 ADULTS. 2 CHILDREN, AGES 16 AND 12. WE ARE NOT SURE WHERE TO STAY,I DON'T WANT ALOT OF FUSS, I HAVE HEARD ABOUT ECO-TENTS, WHICH ARE ON THE NORTHERN PART OF THE ISLAND, SORT OF CAMPING, BUT NOT REALLY CAMPING,HOWEVER, WE DO LIKE CERTAIN AMMENITIES, I AM NOT SURE IF THIS WOULD BE TOO RUSTIC, DO YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS? THANKS. |
I have never been to Maho Bay Camp so I cannot comment. I can however give you this website that will show you what it is and give you all kinds of information: www.travelhop.com will give you a very good idea of what it is like. Hope this helps you:)

The Westin is a nice property, however, the beach there is not great compared to other beaches on the island. Also, it is not walking distance to town if that is a priority. I've stayed at Lavendar Hill Condos which are about a block away from town, would stay there again. Nice units, one or two bedrooms with a kitchen and living area. The pool is small compared to the Westin, but we spent most of our time on the beaches, so this was not a concern for us. I wanted something walking distance, so this was perfect. It's across the street from Gallows Point, which is another very nice option, but more expensive. Good luck.
