Westin 's rooms and facility on St John renovated or old?

Read a bad review on another site about this hotel . Couple wrote the so called renovated room was not renovated with the exception of a new tv and the room was very dirty with dirty bed linens and bathroom . Also said lot of families with children? I am looking for a clean resort, with good food ,and updated facilities.

I was there in 2004 and rooms were perfectly clean, orderly, and up-to-date. Food was fine, no great shakes. As for families, yes I'm sure there are bound to be quite a few, particularly depending on your travel dates. I'd say it's a family-friendly resort.

It's been awhile, but our room was great in building 10 back in September 2005. I Love St. John!

Too much detail here: http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserR...n_Islands.html

The last time we stayed at the Westin was late 2005 and it seemed very clean and orderly. Most people remark on the mediocre beach (IMO, mediocre only compared to elsewhere on St. John)and maybe more family-oriented, but I've never heard of any reports of dirty rooms. But any place is likely to have an "oops" moment with a room which may not be cleaned properly. As for the grounds and the rest of the facilities--very clean and well maintained.

I'd do Gallows Point Resort.

Westin is great---but you want quiet and intimate, off shore snorkeling and quiet ..stay in units 1,2,3 or 9,10, 11...lower levels...upstairs ahs open bedroom..

lower units have doors.
