Westin or Sheraton
 

We're staying at Our Lucaya May 8-12 and just can't decide between the Sheraton or the Westin. I know the Westin is normally a nicer property, but is it worth the extra $ in this case? Thanks!

Westin and the Sheraton are both with the Starwood Hotels chain, so I'm sure that services and amenities are very similar.

That's a dangerous generalization, etrr. In cities in the US which have both a Sheraton and Westin, the Westin is almost always the nicer of the two, with better service and amenities. Westin is almost always rated more highly than Sheraton in traveller polls.

Fairfield Inn and Ritz Carlton are both operated by Marriott but I know which one I'd choose!

At Our Lucaya, the Westin is the nicer section. Both have the same amentities, but he westin buildings have ocean views and seem newer.

We were at the Westin a few months ago. We did walk over to the Sheraton, just to check it out. The Westin does seem nicer, however, guests at both places have access to the same pool and beaches. the rooms at the Westin are OK, but not spectacular. If you are wanting luxury, this isn't it, if you just want a quick few days away, it is a good choice. As for if it is worth it,,, how much is the difference? Perhaps an upgraded room at the Sheraton would be a better choice than a regular room at the Westin.
We were on conciege level,, the extras were nice,, food and drinks available almost all hours.

How much extra was the concierge level? Do you think it was worth it? What type of food did they offer in the lounge?

I don't recall the price diference , we paid about 300 per night ocean front. the food was not fabulous, but it was good,, always good selection of fruit,, good selection for breakfast,, cereal, muffins, bagels,,, good coffee,,, always cold drinks in the fridge. In my mind it was worth it,,, plus you are on the top floor,,, less noise and the views are great. Also, wine or cocktails in the evening with snack food,,, all in all, not bad.
