Westin or Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino...??

We are trying to decide between the Westin or Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino for a hotel. We are a couple with a 20 year old son that love to swim, snorkel and explore an island. Nightlife not important, actually we like it quiet! The Delta package includes breakfast at the Westin which appeals as our son is a runner and loves a big breakfast! The Marriott is considerably more expensive...is it worth more....we have no idea. Any pro or con on either hotel would be appreciated. Thank you.

For our first trip to Aruba, we stayed @ The Marriott in an oceanfront room & it was worth it! It's a very nice property with a beautiful beach & pool. We had dinner a few times @ Simply Fish on the beach where the tables are set in the sand about 15 feet from the ocean.

For our second visit, we decided we need more room so we stayed @ The Marriott Ocean Club which is next door (just south of The Marriott Hotel). Same beach. This is a timeshare property. Go to
www.redweek.com
www.tug2.net
to check for availability.

There is also Marriott Surf Clujust south of Ocean Club) so you may want to check there too but you may not like it b/c it is not as quiet as Ocean Club.

The Westin looks very nice. We have not styaed there but I believe it was renovated recently...maybe 2008?

The Marriott is more north on Palm Beach and is usually very busy and crowded. My family and I prefer The Westin Aruba Resort because it is within walking distance of all the high rise hotels, casinos and wonderful restaurants. It is less crowded than the Marriott. Both are lovely resorts. Check out www.arubahotelsbeaches.com to learn more about Aruba. We hope you'll find it very helpful.

Joly226,
Does the Westin have 1 or 2 bedroom suites or just standard rooms?
Do they have lounge chairs on the beach? Do you have to get up @ 5:00AM to get a chair on the beach? ( that's the one thing I hate about Marriott... we always reserve but still there are often problems getting a palapa.)

OceanBreeze1,
The Westin has 1 bedroom oceanfront suites that accommodate
3-4 adults with a sofa bed. They have pool and beach chaise lounge chairs for the use of all their guests. You do not have to get up early in the morning for a lounge chair. You do have to get up by 7am to get an available palapa to sit under on the beach, it's "first come, first serve". But, you can reserve a palapa in advance if you don't mind paying $25-$35 per day. Hope this helps with your decision.

A word of warning about The Westin: The beach there is incredibly windy, and cruise ships lead day trippers there. Some people find it refreshing, but if the constant wind is going to bother you, you'd be better off at The Marriott or The Radisson, which IMHO has one of the best stretches of beach in that area.

Weadles, Thanks. We have stayed @ The Marriott. It's pretty windy there too! I did not realize that farther south down the beach by The Westin it wld be even windier! I am glad you told me about the cruise ships. That wld bother me.

How far is The Westin from The Marriott? Can you walk b/t the 2 properties? (15-20 minutes?)

I will preface this by saying it's been two years since we were last there ( going back in March), but at that time the beach at The Westin was full of day trippers. AND it was noticeably more windy than the beach in front of The Radisson or Hyatt.
