Westin or Marriott in Grand Cayman?

Hello. We are planning our honeymoon and are torn between the Westin and the Marriott in Grand Cayman. We looked at other hotels as and condos and these have bubbled to the top for our price range.

Is one better than the other for couples? It seems that Westin has the better/bigger beach. Is that indeed the case? We've also seen online that cruise goers tend to take over the beach at the Westin. Is that indeed the case? Does that happen at the Marriott too?

If it helps to know what we are looking for in our trip, we are looking for something low-key where we can relax on the beach some days and do excursions/tours on other days. We like access to good restaurants high-budget and low-budget alike. We'd like some night life too, but again on the more low key side like bars and live music. The beach is more important than the pool for us.

Many thanks in advance for your help!!!!

Actually I thought that the cruise goers take over the Marriott beach. A group of us stayed at the Westin a few years ago and were very happy with the beach and it was not at all crowded. The Marriott is closer to where the cruise ships come in to town.

If the beach is more important, hands down go to the Westin. The beach in front of the Marriot is much smaller. The Westin is also more centralized.

I've stayed close to the Marriott twice and did not notice that the beach area was taken over by cruise goers. The beach is narrower at the Marriott than the Westin and the sea is nicer (in the area where the Westin is). If you don't want to move from being right in front of your hotel, then the width of the beach matters. One advantage of the Marriott is that it is walking distance to George Town.

The Westin has a much nicer beach. The Marriott's beach is crowded during high season with Marriott guests.

I would recommend looking at the new Kimpton Seafire hotels. They have some special rate because they are opening in November.

If you are looking for a condo, the best value is found on the north part of Seven Mile Beach.

I have stayed at the marriott. It is a very nice hotel, but all above are correct in the fact that the beach is very small (narrow). The pool is nothing to look at as well. We used points and stayed there and while it is a nice hotel, I think the Westin has a nicer beach and is more resort like. The Westin is older I believe.
For a honeymoon, I have not seen the Westin rooms, but I would stay at the Westin for the larger beach.
I did not see any cruise ship people at the Marriotts beach, but when all the hotel guests sit on the beach, it is crowded. I would not choose it for my honeymoon hotel if I could afford something with more beach and more of a resort. It is quite a lovely setting, but I think you can get more elsewhere.
When we went a few years ago, the Ritz was fairly new and quite nice. Not sure if the Hyatt is still around either?

Lots of great places to eat in the area of both places. The whole island has a low key nice beach feel. Enjoy your honeymoon!
