Westin or condo/villa

Will be going to the Caymans this Nov. Have points to help pay for room at Westin. Could opt for condo which would be more expensive. Any thought would be greatly appreciated.

We have stayed at the Westin many times. Even though we like the Westin, we are staying at the Avalon condo this Nov. It is south of the Westin on a very pretty section of beach. All the units are oceanfront, and there is a nice pool there. The pool is much smaller than the Westin's, but at least they will not close the pool down to set up for a wedding. You get daily maid service except for on Sunday. You can get a similar condo at the Coralstone too. We stayed there last Nov. and liked it,but they were fixing one of their pools. That's why we are staying at the Avalon this time. The Westin is very nice, but once we stayed in the condo we found we liked it better. You get a washer/dryer, two tv's, a double balancy, and a much better view! Plus you don't have the buy the overpriced food and drinks that the Westin serves. The Avalon is less crowded too.

Hi Bob,

We have stayed at Villas of the Galleon many times, a condo complex just next door to The Westin. If you don't have your heart set on having a pool, this would be a fine choice, considerably less than The Avalon, and on probably one of the nicest sections of beach. Comments we heard from guests staying at The Westin indicated that it was overpriced for smallish rooms. The pool isn't that great, either, and can be very overcrowded in season. Good luck and enjoy the Caymans!

Would be cautious about the Villas of the Gallion at present - there is Ritz-Carlton construction next door and this might be a problem. Visit caymanvacations.com for condo info and costs.

We had thought about renting a condo on GC as so many people recommended it. Instead, we stayed at the Westin. Next time, we will know better. GC is so easy to explore and get around.

Bob, We just got bk frm GC. Went 6/4-6/11. Stayed @ Discovery Point Club condos. Excellent. Go to caymanvacations.com and ask Ian for a "NICE" renovated condo...go for second floor for view and privacy. Screened in porches w/ceiling fans...abt. the closest condos to the beach...we had a condo that was beautifully furnished and kitchen was better equipped than mine at home, (owner must be a chef). So close to one of THE best snorkeling sites on island, and safe perfect swimming (To cemetary reef)...abt. the most reasonable condos too...very clean, jacuzzi and pool right on beach...and really one of the nicest beaches and landscaping of any... I walked down (meaning going South) on seven mile beach and saw London House. The grounds were beautiful also...different w/many hammoks, and tall soft pines, lots of shade to come under...but no pool or jacuzzi. Make sure you have screened porches - skeeters are thirsty. By the way- condos save you a BUNCH of $$!! Gas grills and towels and linens and maid service all included. You may be able to get one nite free if you stay 7 nites. We were extremely pleased w/all - Ask for clean car from Andy's rent a car. You get discount frm the site I gave you. There are several others too.
