Weddings in Samana
 

My fiance and I are wanting to get married in Samana, but can't find the best location. We really do not care for the large all-inclusive options, and prefer a nice boutique style property with casita/bungalow/cottage type accomodations. We have no idea where to start. We did find one property that really inspired us, but I have not been able to speak with anyone at that property that speaks English to even find out if they can handle wedding arrangements (very small/lowkey/informal). I have no idea where to start the process surrounding the legalities, and was really hoping to find someone that can make all the arrangements like the larger all inclusives do. Anyone have any suggestions?

Hi, dutchessps---Congratulations ! I think you've chosen a beautiful area for your wedding. Looks as though you have gotten some good recs for a venue.

Here are two good resources for researching the legal side of things: the first is islandbrides.com. Here you will find the requirements for getting married in the DR. Second, debbiesdominicantravel.com has a forum dedicated to weddings in the DR....so you could ask any remaining questions you might have.

dr1.com, as previously mentioned, is another good source of info. Since those forums are frequented by expats as well as travelers, there should be some sound advice available there.

I love your idea for a smallish, lowkey wedding in a spot that calls out to you. Keep us posted on your plans and progress, won't you ?

If you are from the US, you might consider doing a legal ceramony at home, and then do your "wedding" in Samana. This is often the easier process.
