"Weddingmoon"

Me and my fiance are looking for a place to go to get married and take our honeymoon. We have our hearts set on sandals or similar. I am one of those who is in love with the brochure and need some suggestions from people who have seen them first hand. Would also take suggestions on places to go.

Are you a troll, "Jill"?

If you've been around this board any length of time you'll know there are a hundred posts on Sandals. Mostly nasty arguments.

Just trying to start another one?

Jill Jan 3rd, 2003 08:07 PM

This post was my first post on this site ever. I am seriously interested in some good information and an argument is not what I am looking for. I have begun to look around this site for additional related information. Whether it be good or bad information it is helpful for us to make a decision.
Thanks!

Jill if you have looked all ready on various threads you would see all that has been posted on the subject of weddingmoons, Sandals, etc. You would not need to ask this question. You are a troll.

Jill, if you are really looking for a great place for a wedding, beach and all, check out Treasure Island on Seven Mile beach in the Grand Cayman....I am sure it also has a wedding service contact also, but a family member just did this and it was great...Good Luck

I'm jumping to Jill's defense. As a newly engaged woman I also visited this board in search of travel destinations for our "weddingmoon" (and thankfully was not attached as Jill has been or I probably wouldn't have come back).

It's possible that as a new visitor she didn't realize she could search under "Sandals" or "Weddingmoon" for some suggestions..... OR perhaps she just wanted new ideas/comments from people who are currently posting on this board vs those who were here months ago?

So why not offer your thoughts/suggestions or SKIP the post vs attacking her?

When did everyone become so sinical?

Meanwhile....back to your original question....you may also want to check out www.theknot.com's discussion board to get the opinions of those who have recently wed at a Sandals resort -- to get current info/opinions.

I'd recommend a book entitled "Caribbean Hidewayas" (10th edition by Ian Keown) -- my fiance and I found a lot of great resorts that hose weddings and are incredibly romantic.

Good Luck and Congrats!

I was married this year at a Sandals resort, and I too came searching for suggestions. We ended up choosing Sandals Antigua and we were really happy with our choice. This resort has a romantic and laid back charm to it, perfect for a honeymoon. The beach is great also with beautiful sand, water and sunsets. They did a wonderful job with the wedding also.

It's a hard decision to make and there are so many choices out there. If you'd like to see pics, e-mail me. I'll be happy to send them to you and also a trip report, if you'd like.

Congrats!

Hi Jill. Try this site.
http://www.tropictravelonline.com/
They have loads of info and trip reports on the various Sandals resorts. I like Sandals and feel they offer great value. Also go to the Sandals site www.sandals.com, they list travel agents in your area who are specialists. They will explain the properties and help you choose the one that's best for your honeymoon. Good luck!!
Oh No! It's the dreaded Islander and her "Weddingmoon" at Sandals Antigua.
I'm wondering.... does the resort have "laid back romantic charm"? Tell me, I'm not sure what you think.

methinksjillis Jan 4th, 2003 11:28 AM

Me thinks Jill is the Islander girl. Now she is posting the question so she can answer it herself. She can tell us one more time about that weddingmoon. EEKS is right! This way she will "justify" the need to do so. If I am wrong, Sorry Jill. My aplologies to you. We "HEAR" Sandals Antiqua is wonderful and may be what you are looking for. I hope it is as wonderful as an experience for you as we have heard. Truly I do.

Dear Methinks,
Good call, you are probably right! Islander posts as Jill looking for help choosing a Sandals, therefore she self-justifies the need to post her advice, YET AGAIN!!!
It's pretty funny actually.

Jill,

the suggestion of Sandals Antigua is a good one - it is one of the prettiest Sandals, very romantic, the grounds are beautiful and jsut a great laid back atmsophere. Sandals Ocho Rios is also a great resort and oneof our favorites. It is smaller, more intimate adn really the prettiest Sandals - very lush and tropical. We stood up for a couple there and the cermony was very nice - low key and they took care of every detail.

We were married at the grand Lido in NEgril on the yacht that they own. It is a step up from Sandals but for the same price. Rooms are more luxurious and the yacht was a wonderful, unique setting for the wedding. Great experience.
