Wedding Suggestions for cayman islands?

Hi! I was just at Grand Cayman this past June and got engaged! We are now in the process of trying to plan our wedding for August 2005. We would love to go back to GC and do it there. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to have it? Can you do it on your own without a wedding coordinator? We would also like to bring our own minister. Is that allowable?

Any help and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hi. Sorry I don't have much time to write now, but check out my trip report and photo link from Dec 2003 of my wedding and honeymoon in GC. I will write more when I can...

The wedding must be performed by an official marriage officer in Cayman, so bringing your own minister won't work. We used Cayman Weddings for the ceremony only, and did the rest of the planning, location, catering, etc., ourselves.

If you check with some of the resorts on the island, they may have a wedding package that includes everything, from minister to special room rates for your guests. You have to check with different resorts directly, to see what they offer. It takes alot of leg work, but you may find that it is either a blessing or a curse to get married so far away from home. It's important to check directly and ask alot of questions beforehand, so you aren't disappointed. Although expensive, it may be better to go through a major resort, with a wedding coordinator, to ensure all the little details are looked after.

Thanks for the information that the three of you sent!
Kristen~I was able to locate your photos but I was unable to find your trip report. How do I go about finding that? Your photos were great! I can't believe that you had such good luck with the sunsets. We were there for 3 days and only had one nice sunset. The other days it was too cloudy/hazy. I only hope that I luck out and get a nice sunset for photos on my wedding day! I saw on one of the other postings that you used Yen Morejon. Was it costly? If you were to suggest an "ideal wedding week" based on your time there, what places, rest, etc. would you recommend? Thanks for you help!

NorthSideSue~You said that you did all of the planning on your own. What location, caterer, etc did you end up using?

jpea~Do you have any web info on the wedding packages that some of the places offer?
THANKS AGAIN!
