Wedding in the Carribean

My fiance and I are looking to say our I-do's and enjoy our honeymoon all on the same trip. We don't care for the elaborate wedding and really want to make it about us. We are looking for a beautiful luxury resort where the activites are fun (we are in our early 30's) but retreat to a romantic, secluded room or suite that overlooks a beach or the ocean.

To gie you ideas of resorts that we are looking into: Parrot Cay, Laluna, Four Seasons Nevis.

Any advice for us?

First of all, congrats!

I cannot comment on the resorts that you mentioned, but I thought I would add a suggestion to your list. We were married and honeymooned in Antigua last year and we really enjoyed the island. There is a great resort called Jumby Bay which is located on a private island off the shore of Antigua. It is a luxury all-inclusive and I have heard wonderful things about it. www.jumby-bay.com

Hopefully someone else can chime in on the resorts you mentioned, just thought you might like to give Jumby a look. Congrats and good luck in choosing!

Congratulations!

Two very good friends of mine spent their honeymoon at Laluna last summer and never had a better time in their lives. The small, beautiful hotel was just what they were looking for in terms of relaxation. They were mildly disappointed in the food (he manages a restaurant and has certain expectations) but it did not in any way detract from their overall love of the place.

Laluna is one of the settings where the current Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition was shot. The hotel only shows up once or twice, but the beaches and the water were shown off to a beautiful effect. Pick up a copy to see the photos.

I've also heard fabulous things about Jumby Bay off the coast of Antigua. I also personally like Guana Island, a private island resort in the British Virgins. They offer tennis, some watersports, and an island full of hiking trails for a variety of activities, there are only 15 cottages on the entire island, and it's very private and romantic. Food is good, too. www.guana.com

Whatever choose, have a great time!

You might also want to check out Peter Island, a private island resort in the British Virgins. They've got lots of activities, and they also have two VERY nice secluded villas, one is the Crow's Nest, and the other is the Hawk's. Gorgeous views, much privacy, and with all the amenities of the resort nearby.

I would suggest Compas Point on New Providence (Nassau), Bahamas or on Paradise Island, The Ocean Beach Club.

Lots of activities, shopping, restaurants and upscale accomodations.

For a wedding, there is a beautiful garden on PI that over looks the ocean and is used regularly for weddings, check with the Ocean Club.

Compas Point is away from the madding crowds and the accomodations are beautifully done bungalows right on the water, great restaurant there as well.

Have a wonderful time and enjoy your trip.
