Weather in St Maarten in August

I am planning a trip with my 2 adult children and August is really the best time. What is St Maarten like in August? I assume there is some threat of hurricanes, but I am wondering how the weather is and just some general info about the island during that month, would be helpful.

Expect daytime temps to be in the mid-to high 80's F with occasional forays into the low 90's. The humidity will be on the high side, the sun strong and only light breezes so it will feel hotter.

At that time of you you can expect daily occasional brief widely scatter showers lasting just minutes. It will, probably rain someplace on the island for some time every day but it's not unusual for it to be sunny and dry as a bone 1/4 mile away.

As far as hurricanes are concerned August is hurricane season but that doesn't mean there are major storms around all the time. If there are no storms in the area weather is generally very good. If a storm is threatening the island you could have a few days of unsettled weather. To put things in perspective, since 1851 there have been only 15 hurricanes that have affected St. Martin in August.
