Weather in Nassau in August?

My husband and I are planning a trip to Nassau,
Bahamas in August. Probably the 8th through the
14th. What is the weather like then...besides hot!!
Would this time be hurricane, typhoon, or tidal
wave season? If anyone is familiar with the
weather during this time of year, please let us
know...looking forward to your responses.

You are right August is within hurricane season. August in the Bahamas and Caribbean is beyond hot. In my opinion August is the warmest month of the year plus it is very humid. You can expect rain every afternoon, but often not long enough to make the afternoon a complete loss. When the sun returns it hotter and even more humid. After the rain everything is so bright and clear with not a cloud in the sky. When the rain comes I go shopping until it clears up. You would be wise to pack a small umbrella as they are expensive there.

I was there at that exact time a few years ago. It will be hot (even at night), so pack lots of shorts.
The good news is that almost every restaurant is casual- you can eat at the best places in town in shorts or khakis. Hurricanes are always a possibility, but no more so than any place in the Atlantic (including the U.S.). Enjoy- the swimming & snorkling are incredible on St. John-make sure you take a least a day trip (ferry) there.
