Weather in Bahamas in March?

Hi, my husband and I would like to visit the Bahamas in March 2010. Can you tell me what the weather is like that time of year? Is it warm enough for sunbathing? Do we need a light jacket for the evenings?

You don't say which island in the Bahamas (there are hundreds of islands and cays in the chain) but generally speaking it could be cool throughout the Bahamas in March. It is normall a few degrees warmer in the southern islands than the northern islands.

You can find "average" temperature ranges and other average weather data for March for several of the "main" Bahamas island at www.weatherbase.com

Also, you can find both average weather data and actual daily weather statistics for every day for the last 10 years for many of the Bahamas Island at www.wunderground.com. Simply type in the airport code for the island you are visiting, scroll down to the "History & Almanac" section and you can reasach actual weather conditions by day, week and month for the last 10 years. Looking through the data will make you a Bahamas "weather expert".

Hi, thanks to those that have replied so far. We would like to go to Paradise Island/Nassau in late Feb or early March. I'm just a little worried about the weather. We've traveled a little here and there but we definitely want the weather to be warm enough to enjoy the beach etc. I know we can never rely on the weather, but I'm curious to know what the average temps are at that time of year.

As I said in my earlier response, go to the weatherbase.com website, click on the Caribbean, then The Bahamas, then Nassau (Paradisce Island is a small island just a bridge span away from Nassau so weather is the same as Nassau) - you'll find average temperature data charts for every month throughout the year, including February and March. You'll find Average daily temps, Average daily highs, lows as well as highest ever and lowest ever recorded. There will be "rain data" there also. Visit the website - all your weather questions will be answered there. For what it is worth, temperatures during February and March have ranged from a historic low of 46 F. to an hostoric high of 90 F. with an average daily temperature of between 71 F. and 73 F.

No one can give you any assurances other than those published averages as to what the temperature will be when you go. It could be cool, mild or warm - it's up to mother nature.

If you want warmer weather you have to go further south.
