water

We are going to Vieques in a couple of days and was wondering if it is OK to drink the water, or should we buy bottled water.

No matter where I go, I buy bottled for drinking...I brush my teeth, cook with, bathe in; but never drink the local water;;and I'm still alive and healthy..

knock on wood

I'm of average constitution when it comes to stomach issues--neither strong nor weak. Our family of four drank the water just fine and had no problems.

Buying bottled water is so bad for the planet that unless you have health concerns, I always advise drinking the local water.

I don't know if this helps, but mainland Puerto Rico has good drinking water. We always drink the water there. Not sure about vieques. I wish I could help.

Enjoy Vieques! The water is safe to drink and tastes pretty good.

Bottled water is expensive on the island (low demand plus it's imported); we saw a 24 bottle case for $12 in the Green store (grocery store in Esperanza) but we didn't know the brand name. A similar case costs less than $5 where I live.
