warm beaches and sailing

My husband and I and another couple (all in our 50's) want to go somewhere warm the first week of Dec. We want to rent a sailboat some of the time, relax and have great food. The guys don't dance, but we do like bars and music. We are looking to spend under 2,000 a couple if we can. Any recommendations

Bequia. airfare will be a large portion of your expense. I'm headed to St.Vincent which is the mainland to Bequia 1st wk of Dec. $691 total on expedia. Lots of sailing in these waters, Im told just about if not the best.

I don't know about the price you're looking for..usually airfare starts to get higher as dec.arrives,so that could cut into trip budget.alot of hotels/resorts/inn don't push up prices untill 12/15 "high season"!! from what you are looking for i would suggest the BVI's..great music/bars and beaches to die for !! lots of sailing around the various islands/close together/makes a safe and fun sailing adventure. each island has a little something to offer. check this site www.moorings.com they have a site in Tortola bvi...good company to charter with/good reviews.were you planning on bareboating or looking for a crew ? the Moorings offer both options.even if you choose not to sail Tortola is a great, beautiful, safe, fun island. !!

thank you. I've never sailed before, I think it'll be just the 4 of us. I'm hoping to snorkel and dive, though. Both of your posts sound good for that. I looked up some pages on Bequia. It sounds beautiful. What hotels are good, though?

I'm passing on the moorings.com to our sailor and asking him more questions.

There are a number of reasonably priced accomodations on Bequia. Curiousx posts here and is quite an expert on specifics. I have visited the island a number of times but never stayed on land. When I do visit any length of time I stay on the main island of St.Vincent. I believe the website www.caribbeantravelforums.com is a great source of info or trip advisor too. I'm not sure if I gave you the correct address but with a little search mode you should be able to find what you're looking for.
