Wanting a great brach to swim, walk and rest

My husband and I have never traveled in the caribbean. We are both teachers and need r and r. We want to travel in March for a week. Any ideas for a great beach, great food, and reasonable rates for lodging.

hi ginn, first off reasonable rates means something different to everybody. that said, as budget & time are smaller - don't pick an island too far south. costs more to fly there and takes a few extra hours.
specifically you could consider www.secretharbourvi.com on st. thomas. a nice mid-size resort.all condo, has restaurant and on very nice beach,w/great snorkeling. if you get bored st.t has tons to do.
or you could look at turks and caicos. small island with one thing to do =Grace Bay Beach. extremely!! relaxing, stunning beach, great snorkeling, a plethora or restaurants. alot of info on www.provo.net (budget accom. might be Comfort Suites - not on beach but takes about as much time to get to it as hmm say to the lunch room?)
www.caribbean-on-line.com - has a list of all the hotels on island.
you'll have a great time where ever you go

Look at Provo on Turks & Caicos. Definately great beach, great food, and a very relaxing atmosphere there. This is a low keyed island which sounds like what you are looking for.

Try Negril, Jamaica.

Good rates may be a bit harder to come by during school break period. Rates will drop after Easter. But some of the destinations that might be less expensive are Cancun, Punta Cana and Jamaica.

For Jamaica, look at www.silver-sands.com. We are going there in March, and the villas (including staff and round trip from the airport) are resonably priced.
