Want to go to Bequia via St. Lucia

We want to get to Bequia for as little as possible. Our frequent flyer miles will get us to either St. Lucia,Barbados, or Grenada for the same cost. So we want to know the chepest way to get from one of these destinations to Bequia. Does anyone know if there is a ferry that goes between Bequia, St. Vincent, and either St. Lucia, Barbados, or Grenada? Of if anyone has any other solutions or suggestions. Thanks!

I did a bit of research on the very same thing to get to St. Vincent this coming June. We ended up using our miles to get to Barbados and then using Caribbean Star/Liat to fly to St. Vincent. Flights are very reasonable, around $140 RT with taxes. A ferry runs to Bequia from St. Vincent - not sure about the cost.

Try calling this number for the airline 866-864-6272 - I could never get it to book online http://book.liatairline.com/skylight.../skylights.cgi

We flew to Barbados and then took a TIA I think that was the name, a very small plane, direct to Bequia. Sorry cannot remember the price but remember thinking it was not bad.
We loved it Bequia and getting there!

The cheapest way is probably around the same price from all 3 islands--by connecting to the island of st. Vincent via LIAT and then taking the ferry to Bequia. If schedule is also important to you, skip Grenada unless you also want to spend some time on Grenada, too, because the connection times aren't great if you want to catch an onward flight.

You asked for least expensive so this probably won't apply, but I wanted to make sure you knew about SVGAir, which flies between Barbados and Bequia. It's twice the cost of LIAT but it makes for great connections and maximizing your time on Bequia.

There is a (cheap) ferry between St Vincent and Bequia, but it is a notoriously rough crossing. SVG Air has regular flights from St Lucia to Bequia, Barbados to Bequia and Grenada to Bequia. Flights are cheap but planes are small so book soon.
Mustique Airways is another option between the islands and both are available for charter too.
Check out www.svgair.com and www.destinationcaribbean.net and www.mustiqueairways.com
Enjoy!

bajangirl, are you sure about your information? last year when I was planning my trip, SVGAir only served the Grenadines from Barbados, not from St. Lucia or Grenada. I would have liked to fly SVGAir between Bequia and Grenada but it wasn't possible.

I've been pricing connections for SVG and Grenada for the fall and there is absolutely no easy or cheap way to get there. The best bet still remains flying into St. Lucia or Barbados with a LIAT connection to ET Joshua on St. Vincent and then taking the ferry over to Bequia. SVGAir works but known to be expensive. There isn't always a direct flight between SLU and SVG. Last November Caribbean Star which is now part of LIAT was originally a direct flight to SVG and a few days before I left for the islands I found out my connection SLU/SVG R/T took me via Barbados. You might do better flying into BGI and then connecting on to SVG. If you come up with something worthwhile please post the connection. It seems to be getting more difficult each year I visit. Searching for Grenada flights from the US is a nightmare.

I had a horrible time with LIAT last year on our trip to Bequia. We flew into Barbados, transferred to LIAT - onto St. Vincent to catch the ferry. They were late so we had to spend $$ to spend the night in SV to catch the morning ferry. On the way back it was a nightmare. I recommend spending the money NOT to use LIAT. They are the absolute worst. On our homeward bound trip we took the early ferry to St. Vincent from Bequia (which we loved) and was told our 1pm flight was cancelled as the pilots went on strike. No one helped to get us on another flight to Barbados to catch our U.S. flight to states. No one really cared. They hid in the back from all the irate passengers. They took no responsibility and at 4pm when we finally got a flight we missed our connection and spent over 300 bucks to spend the night in Barbados not even knowing if we could leave the next day. When we got to the airport the LIAT agents had the "tough luck" attitude. Save up and use the flight from Barbados that flys directly to Bequia in 45 minutes. It is well worth it! Bequia was fabulous but we will never return because of the incompetency of LIAT. The ferry was not particulary comfortable and they throw your luggage in a room where anyone can walk in and retrieve it. Definitely on my never again list.LIAT should be put out of business in my eyes. They never replied to our letters and are the most unreliable airline I have ever flown. I will make it my mission to be sure no one else goes through what we did just to try to get home. I don't have room here to tell you the entire horror story, but believe me it was the worst! DO NOT FLY LIAT. They take your money and run.
