Waited to long to claim my Spice Island certificates...
that I won thru skyauction and now can only get 4 certificates, instead of the 7 I thought I would be getting. I'm disappointed as I thought a week long stay there would be great. Instead, will have to stay someplace else for the other nights. Maybe the Flamboyant? I'm going to try to rearrange things and go to GND in May. Wanted to go in Feb. but SI has a minimum stay requirement in Feb,
I have Valentines Resort, Harbour Island, booked for May, and hope they will be accomodating and let me change my dates to Feb. I know it could be chilly in the Bahamas then, but that's ok.
Hopefully it will all work out.

Sorry to hear that. May is a great time of the year in Grenada. The weather is perfect and there will be less people. If you decide to stay elsewhere, try to do it at the beginning of your stay. After experiencing that super comfy and cozy bed at Spice Island, you may not want to leave! lol.

I had that same thought, mymoosie - to end our stay on Grenada at Spice Island (save the best for last). Now I am either going to check out the Flamboyant for the beginning of our stay, or maybe since we will only be a short, cheap plane ride from St Vincent, go to Young Island (we were married there in 1993 and haven't been back since).

After some thought, decided to just stay on Grenada. From what I've been reading, it's a great island, and I know once we get to Spice Island, we won't to leave the resort! So if we stay someplace else before that, we'll get to experience more of Grenada. What do you think of the Flamboyant?

Flamboyant is ok, great views from the rooms. But man oh man, it is a royal p.i.t.a. to go up and down to the beach. I like my room to be a few steps from the sand, so it doesn't work for me. If you don't mind not being directly on the beach and the steep steps to the rooms, then it should be fine. The rooms are good sized, but the decor very dated. I had a couple of photos & a review of it on my trip reports site.
One good thing about its location is that you are between 2 beautiful beaches - Grand Anse & Morne Rouge (aka BBC). Morne Rouge is on the other side just down the hill. I love Morne Rouge, I actually prefer it than Grand Anse.

Decided to add one additional night at Spice Island. Since we're getting a deal for the 1st four nights, and it's already paid for, I've convinced myself that it's no big deal to spend so much money for the extra night. Will probabl spend the first four nights at the Flamboyant. I think we'll be ok with the steps, and the website says if you need help gettnig up and down, they will shuttle you.
