W/here to go

My husband and I usually go to the Caribbean in March. We've been to Little Dix, Caneel Bay, Turks & Caicos (don't remember where-it was a condo), Puerto Rico, Barbados (Glitter Bay--MANY years ago)Aruba, Nevis (Nisbet) and Anguilla several times. We've stayed at the Cuisianrt and like it a lot. We like a beautiful beach with service, a smaller 1 or 2 story hotel, prefer no children or few. We usually rent a car for a few days and like to explore or use cabs for restaurants. We like to relax on the beach, snorkel and eat nice dinners. We do not need a nite life nor do we care about shopping.
Really have enjoyed Anguilla but would like to try a new place. We also are thinking of Riviera Maya or Zihuataanejo in Mexico, but am not sure if there is a mosquito problem.

Does anyone have any ideas to suggest a different island or Mexico?

on mexican rivierea look at www.maromahotel.com beautiful resort, on a beautiful beach.

a small island just off cancun and cozumel is isla mujeres. have heard great things about this hotel: http://www.villarolandi.com/index.php
there is next to nothing to do on isla except snorkel snorkel snorkel. and eat/drink. people rent golf carts instead of cars to see the island.

ejs,
We too love Anguilla and are avid Cuisinart lovers!!! Just returned from there Dec 2nd. I too looked into other places to try, as we too have been to many islands in the Caribbean. I would look into La Casa Que Canta in Zihautaneyo Mexico. The website makes it took totally lovely. The only thing that held me back was the water is not blue like Anguilla, and the sand isn't as white. That and the Cuisinart, and well as Anguilla's dining really just keeps us from going anywhere else. We are booking our fifth trip there soon for 2008!!! Best of luck finding a new place.

Virginia,
We are checking our Maroma, Esencia and Paraiso de la Bonita. Have you been to Riviera Maya? Were there mosquitos?

Anguillagirl--I guess by your name-it says it all. Everytime we try to find a new island, Anguilla just comes out ahead, that's why we are thinking of Mexico and can do some sight seeing.

Thanks for your input

ejs - we stayed 2 weeks on tankah bay beach (casa cavu - 1/2 way between akumal and tulum) october '06. we had quite a bit of rain one week, as there was a nearby tropical depression. we did use bug spray if we sat out on our porch at cocktail time but really did not have any big problem with skeeeters. just a few at dawn and dusk. actually i'd say less than i experienced on various islands.

Thanks for all your info. Decided we will go to Mexico this year. We are going to go to Esencia in Riviera Maya. This is a change of pace for us but looking forward to something different and exploring.

if you'll be venturing out of esencia you might want to look at www.locogringo.com it has info on virtually everything there is for activities. from ruins to zip-lines. hope you'll come back with a trip report.

Enjoy your trip. We enjoyed both PDC and Zihua/Ixtapa areas but PDC has the beautiful water you're used to seeing.

I recently went to the Grand Cayman Islands and I stayed at Harbour Heights (http://www.harbourheightscayman.com/) and had a great time. The staff was very friendly and all of the other people were just as nice. The view was amazing, sitting and relaxing at the Seven Mile Beach. There were lots of things to do including snorkeling and going to the turtle beach. Check out their site for pictures, different activities, and the rates for a winter or summer vacation.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for more info. I have checked out the locogringo website also. Happy holidays to all.

We have been to (and liked) many of the same places as you. You should check out Curtain Bluff in Antigua, which we thought was an outstanding resort and has everything you appear to want. Their beachfront junior suites are really lovely, the beach (Caribbean side) is beautiful with lots of shade, the off-shore snorkeling is good. and the service and food are outstanding. A nice plus is that they have very good live entertainment every evening. You definitely can't go wrong here.
