Vitalchek birth cert. ok??

Hey there....we are traveling to Punta Cana in September. We don't have passports but recently purchased certified copies of our birth certificates from vitalchek.com. Will these be ok? Is there anyway to go and sho someone to know for sure?

I don't think that will work, they are supposed to be original birth certificates, with a raised seal. You might need to get intouch with the city/town you were born in to get an original copy.

This will be fine. I ordered one in 2004 for my husband and it did indeed have a raised seal. He had no problem using it to get into St. Lucia.

I used a VitalCheck birth certificate to get my passport; it is official, with a raised seal-

I am curious as to why one would not want to buy a passport ?
