Virgin to Antigua, recommendations?

Adult group of 8 visiting (first timers) Antigua in May of 19 for a 40th birthday. We are active but LOVE also love relaxing at a beach bar with toes in sand. Our villa is on Ffyre's Beach if that helps give suggestions. From snorkeling, must do restaurants, dives, bars, historical sites, places to see we want to hear any good suggestions! Also, any ideas on a boat ride for any nearby islands? A day trip to the Baths at Virgin Gorda would be awesome, but any other suggestions and companies to use would be greatly appreciated.

Is that Virgin as in Virgin Atlantic to Antigua or do you mean something else?

Is this for yourself or are you seeking info for another purpose? Have you done any basic research on Antigua? Are you thinking of chartering a plane to get to Virgin Gorda for the day?

I think they meant "virgin" as not having been there before as they stated.
ashleyjade.....are you renting a car? Antigua has many beautiful beaches to explore.

You CANNOT go on a day trip to The Baths on Virgin Gorda from Antigua. It is much too far (about 200 miles) for ferries and there are no commercial flights between those islands. As Odin pointed out you could charter a plane for the trip but it will be very costly however if you are willing to split the cost between the 8 of you you might find a Private Charter flight to be cost effective. There are several companies that do Charters from Antigua - Google "Antigua Charter Flights" for links.

The only island you can easily reach by boat from Antigua is Barbuda and even that is a fairly long trip. There are companies that do excursions (either by boat or plane) from Antigua. The property manger for your villa may be able to make suggestions.

There's not much snorkeling from shore on Antigua. The better snorkeling sites are accessible only by boat. Best to take one of the daysails and/or snorkeling excursions offered by the various tour operators on the island.

You mentioned you'll be staying in a villa. While it's not always the case many villa owners have an "Activities Book" for use by their guests - it will have brochures and contact info for many of the tour operators, points of interest, restaurants, activities etc. Hopefully you'll find such a book at the villa you are renting.
