VILLA VACATIONERS-PLEASE HELP..
 

I RECENTLY STAYED AT A VILLA ON AN ISLAND THAT I WILL NOT NAME HERE BUT WE HAD THE WORST TIME THERE AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. <BR>FROM THE SECOND WE GOT THERE ALL WE DID WAS BATTLE THE MOSQUITOS ( WE EACH HAD OVER 40 BITES ), ROACHES (MOSTLY IN THE BEDROOM BUT AT LEAST 5 WERE KILLED A DAY) AND ON OUR LAST DAY WE FOUND RAT DROPPINGS ALL OVER THE BEDROOM...WE LEFT FEELING VERY CHEATED BECAUSE IT COST OVER $2000 FOR THE WEEK AND I DON'T KNOW IF I SHOULD OR CAN DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. <BR>ANYONE OUT THERE HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR ME? <BR>WE HAD A GREAT TIME ON OUR VACATION WHEN WE WEREN'T AT THE HOUSE SO IT WAS NOT A COMPLETE LOSS BUT ... <BR>I SPOKE WITH THE MANAGEMENT COMPANY ABOUT THE PROBLEMS WE ENCOUNTERED AND THEY SEEMED TO WANT TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT BUT I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM THEM IN DAYS.. <BR>ANY ADVICE WOULD BE MOST APPRECIATED..THANKS

I would definitely follow up with the rental company or agent in writing outlining your disappointment with the accomodations. Altho there isn't much they can do about skeeters but there are things that can be done about rats and roaches. And I would also suggest to them a rememdy that would make you comfortable. They probably won't come out and offer it unless you push a bit. What do you think would be fair? <BR>You could do a little "research" also and maybe come up with the owners names and contact them if the rental agent is not receptive to your complaints. And ... if worse comes to worse and you get no satisfaction, I would not hesitiate to post the name of the villa so that others can avoid the same problem! And I still might do it ... But, don't threaten the agent with doing so ... yet! See if they will come up with a mutually agreeable solution. I hope you didn't wait until your departure to complain because then there is no rememdy like moving to another villa or calling in an exterminator which might have been possible.

THANKS, KAREN FOR YOUR RESPONSE. <BR>I DID CALL THEM ON OUR 2ND DAY IN THE HOUSE AND TELL THEM ABOUT THE SKEETERS AND THE ROACHES. THEY SENT SOMEONE TO SPRAY FOR THE MOSQUITOS BUT THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT THE ROACHES BUT THAT THEY DID EXTERMINATE ONCE A MONTH. WE DID NOTICE AN IMPROVEMENT IN THE MOSQUITOS FOR THE NEXT DAY BUT THEN IT WAS WORSE THAN EVER. I HAVE EXPLAINED IN DETAIL TO THEM EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED AND THEY DID SEEM LIKE THEY WOULD GIVE US SOME KIND OF COMPENSATION BUT I HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM THEM FOR A FEW DAYS...I WILL KEEP TRYING THOUGH!! THANKS AGAIN...
