Vieques flights

We are traveling to Puerto Rico from Nov. 12-19. We are planning on spending the last two nights in Vieques. Are flights from Vieques to mainland PR reliable enough to fly from Vieques to PR the same day as our return flight from San Juan? Do weather conditions shut down flights to/from Vieques for an entire morning/afternoon?

Hello,

We used Vieques Air Link (vieques-island.com) in February, 2004 round trip from Old San Juan and found it extremely reliable both ways. Don't know about November weather, though.
Their schedule is on the website. We easily made an afternoon flight from the big airport (taxied from Old San Juan) after leaving Vieques mid-morning.
Good luck.

We did Vieques Air Link From Vieques to Isla Grande airport which is cheaper. Left about 7 Am landed and took a cab to San Juan International. Were at the ticket counter at 8:30. Had a 12:20 American flight but managed to get on the 10:10 so it worked great. The planes are only about 9 seaters so they can be affected by weather like tropical depressions etc.

We had no problems flying from San Juan to Vieques. Chartered our on flight over as we didn't want to wait until the next morning to fly out since we arrived late afternoon. Used Vieques Air Link to return to SJ. Lots of flights. Also, don't rely on the websites for flight availability -- call instead.

Here is a great website with lots of info on Vieques!!
Have a great trip.

Hi, I have booked VAl to and from Vieques the beginning of December using the Isla Grande location. This was mainly due to the schedule. I used the toll free number (1-888-901-9247) and found them to be extremely helpful. There was an unlisted flight on their site which turned out to be a better time fit for us so I echo the previous poster's suggestion. I would like to have an e-mail or fax confirming these flights, but they say it is not necessary. Anyone else have this situation?

There was an article about Vieques in the Sunday New York Times along with many other Islands featured.

Have a great trip. Owa
