Vacationing with a Vegetarian

We are in the beginning process of planning a summer vacation, we are teachers. For a change we would like an island resort. My partner is a STRICT vegetarian, any suggestions for places to stay and make everyone happy? We are flexible, as far as not having a particular destination in mind. Thank you for your input

If your partner is a Vegan then you're going to have a challenge. Otherwise, you'll manage - I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian and have vacationed at various islands. Your best bet by far is to stay in a place with your own kitchenette on an island with a decent supermarket (try St. Barts, a fabulous island with many villa rentals and an excellent Match supermarket)and prepare at least some of your own meals - that's what I always do. There are usually at least a few Italian, Thai or other veggie-friendly restaurants on most islands. Of course, the islands with the heavier tourist traffic will offer the largest choice of restaurants. I've vacationed on various islands (St.Barts, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Aruba, St.Martin)and haven't gone hungry yet - although without a kitchen you may find yourself too restricted in your dining choices.

Mockingbird Hill, an award-winning environmentally-conscious small boutique hotel run by two women in Port Antonio, Jamaica would suit your partner's dietary preferences perfectly. The area is lush with waterfalls, rivers, the Blue Lagoon, great beaches==and little tourist thrash. Keyword on any search engine for their web site
