US Virgin Islands

Me and my husband want to go away to US Virgin Islands, notably St Thomas and St Croix. I've seen a thread that says its quite dangerous, just wanted to know if it is, preferably from people who have lived or still live there. I usually go away to 'commercial' type places, so haven't gone anywhere 'bit different', so am not a backpacker type of person.

Looking forward to your response :)

Go to St John.

I don't agree that either St. Thomas or St. Croix is "quite dangerous". You run risks in either place (both have some crime), but if you exercise even reasonable caution, you'll be fine. I can't promise you a trouble-free vacation on these islands or even on St. John, but I can tell you that there are plenty of lovely resorts where you'll feel comfortable. If you are concerned about crime, then a resort is your best bet, where security will be tighter and you'll be able to relax. I've been to all the Virgin Islands, and I've never experience any issues at all. To some degree it's the luck of the draw, but lots of people have completely uneventful vacations in both places.

I've been to all 3, and if I had to pick the one I felt safest it's St John hands down. It's also the only one I would return to.

Couldn't agree more!

I would want to read where the "quite dangerous" information is coming from before making a decision based upon it.
