Upcoming Provos Trip Itinerary
 

My pregnant wife and I are planning a trip to Provos in a few weeks for 8 nights. We are looking for a nice low key relaxing vacation. Reservations at The Sands and planning some snorkeling. Any suggestions as to 'must sees' while we're down there?

hi jamicah, you have chosen the perfect island for a "low key relaxing vacation". provo (no s) is a Very quiet island. grace bay beach IS the main attraction. the sand is very white and soft like talcum powder. the snorkeling is good and the diving is world class. don't miss the snorkeling at smith bay reef near turtle cove marina. there are ususally turtles and spotted rays. AND one time i saw a southern ray laying on the bottom that must have had a wing span of 6-7 feet.
there is a school of blue tangs that hang at the coral gardens reef... oh i wish i was going now!
try bugaloos for a conch lunch. byob. they are gonna go into the sea and come back out with "your" conch and then cook it to order in a small 3 sided shack. bugaloo is a bit of a character!
maybe rent a skiff from leeward marina and go find a deserted beach to share before you become 3.

We've been to Provo twice. On our last visit we stayed at The Sands and loved it! Korna the bartender is a great guy, Desmond who handles the beach and pool is also a good guy.
Snorkeling at Coral Gardens is awesome. It is a bit of a walk from The Sands, just be sure to bring plenty of water and you'll enjoy the walk!
We ate most of our meals at Hemingways right at The Sands - good food, good service and great atmosphere. We did enjoy Tiki Hut though.
The best part of Provo for us is the beach and water -- the most awesome we've ever seen. We also love the peace and quiet -- we're not into casinos or night clubs so this island fits our desires perfectly.

Bugaloos is no longer a three sided shack . They've gone upscale and moved. On the right as you enter Blue Hills. They serve conch, fish and chicken beer and wine. Really nice place. Going again 2-10 Nov. Can't wait

Is Bugaloos even still Bugaloos? When we went in September it was now called Da Conch Shack and apparently no longer run by Mr. Williams. I mean, we *think* we went to the Bugaloos site, but we were never sure where exactly it was in the first place.

Howard - do you know if it has changed name & ownership?

There is another seaside low-key restaurant farther into Blue Hills. I don't recall what it's called, but they had good food as well. They are in a very colorful series of buildings.
