culebra. maybe isla mujeras but there will be more people there.

Isla doesn't have great snorkeling right off the beach.
Belize does, if you get to one of the small cayes, or the atolls off shore. Maybe Bonaire? |
At any number of beaches on the north shore of St. John, USVI.
They are all within the National Park/no development. The photo on the first page of this (Fodors) Caribbean blog is of Trunk Bay Beach on St.John, which has a snorkeling trail around the tiny island just offshore. This is probably the most photograped beach in the world. |
culebra good snorkeling off the beach!!? can we find place to stay for not to much money ? curious to know if i can afford it
any info appreciated thanks |

St John's USVI best beaches snorkeling off the beach... http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals...n/usvi-st-john rental options more affordable.. Cheap flight connections in from the US for me especially on www.spiritair.com out of FLL. Other good options like Bonaire Roatan www.anthonyskey.com www.seagraperoatan.com based on budget... Happy Journey |
I would also suggest the Akumal, Mexico area. There is a lagoon that has great reefs and also a beach area with turtles and a reef. INCREDIBLE!!
|
St John USVI has tons of great off beach snorkeling.

Bob- since you asked about Culebra, look at Villa Boheme- a little inn in town that is very reasonable. You would want a jeep to really explore (try Carlos Jeeps)- www.islaculebra.com (I think, didn't look back to refresh my memory) is a good site to do research on- happy travels!

North Side or East End of Grand Cayman. A few resorts, but mostly private homes or small condo complexes. Deserted beaches surrounded by barrier reef with killer snorkeling in between.

Bonaire would be a nice choice.

Yes, St John has some of the best snorkeling from shore anywhere. Don't be put off by the Caneel rates since this is the absolute high-end on STJ (other than some villas). At $850 - 2400 per night, you can spend a week on STJ for what you'd pay for a night at Caneel.
You can get some pretty nice digs for under $200/nt. Sail View @ $150 http://www.sailviewstjohn.com/ Cruiz Views @ $125-225 http://www.caribbeanvilla.com/cviews...views.html#cv7 Maho Bay EcoResort @ $80 - 185 http://www.maho.org/ and more if you look closely |
Vieques has several beaches where you can snorkel off the beach and very reasonable accommodations.
