Unfriendly locals?

I've been hearing that some locations in the Caribbean are not very friendly - resentment towards the tourists. Did you find the Bajans to be generally friendly and open? We're planning to have our wedding there for 50 guests and thought barbados sounded like a good spot. Any tips? Thanks.

We had a wedding last September at Sam Lords in Barbados. We found the Bajans to be very friendly and open with a great sense of humour. We did not come across any resentment.
Feel free to email me with any questions
Susan

I found the Bajans to be polite but reserved. I found this to be particularly to be so in the St. Lawrence Gap area in the restaurants where the staff were a bit cool. Around the rest of the island, I found the locals to be helpful and polite.

Of the MANY islands my family and I have visited we found the Bajans to be the most friendly, helpful, intelligent and interesting people. There are so many beautiful spots for a memorable wedding in Barbados, Im sure you will realize you definately picked the right island to get married in. Congratulations!

Very, very friendly!!! Many went out of their way to come & talk to us, ask us what we thought of their isalnd, etc. on several occasions when we got lost driving they went miles out of their way to guide us to our destinations!

Without a doubt Bajans are friendly. The car we rented broke down after dinner one night in Bridgetown. The car was parked on a small side street and would not start. We called the rental agency and they said they'd come and help. What was most surprising were the number of Bajans that stopped to ask if we needed help, even offered us to use their cell phone. Mind you this side street was not in the most affluent part of the city. We traveled around much of the island - never had any problems.
