Typically, when do the thimble jellyfish come to Turks and Caicos?

Hey everyone,

We are ready to book our vacation to Providenciales, Turks and Caicos, for the second time! We can't wait.

Last year, we went in the third week of July. This year we are thinking of the last week of June or first week in July.

As far as the thimble jellyfish, do you think this is a safe time to go? I have read that they typically come in May.

I know nothing is for certain, but has anyone ever experiences these jellyfish in late June/early July?

Thanks for your help!

I have only been there in April, May, June and December. Of all the trips there I have only seen the thimbles once and that was in early June. We have been there several times in May and never had a problem.

We were there in mid-April and there were thimble jelly fish in the water two mornings. Then after a few hours, they mysteriously disappear. I think they most often appear in the spring.

I think that they are most apt to occur in May/June, typically in between Mother's Day and Father's Day.

We were there last week in April, first week of May and no sign, I had also read about them and had even considered a body suit to snorkel, am avid snorkeler. I snorkeled about three times a day, an hour+ each time and never saw them. We snorkeled several places around Provo and never a problem anywhere we went. I am so envious, Safe Travel.
