Typical of December?
 

I am in the process of planning my weddingmoon in Grand Cayman for early next Dec. I have been checking the weather for the last couple of weeks and it shows rain almost everyday. Is this typical of this time of year? I thought the rainy season was over by December.

I've been watching the weather also since we leave soon for GCM, and it has been awful. It looks like it will improve right around Christmas. For some reason, for the past two or so years, the weather has been kind of poor the few weeks right after Christmas. For years before that, it was great. I don't see any pattern; generally it should be good. I'm of course speaking of later in the month and you are interested in earlier.

Shellie, unhappily I have to say I wouldn't plan a weddingmoon around that time; right thru mid-December, the risks of tropical storms are still there. We love Grand Cayman, but the best time to go is from Xmas on thru June. My hubby checks with NOA Weather Radio advisories cause he's a diver and just doesn't like to take the chance of dives or even snorkeling in rough or rainy weather.<BR><BR>If you TRULY want GC, I'd say January on would be the time to plan.<BR><BR>If you only want December, I'd like to recommend Grenada, a lush tropical island with great people and nice beaches. The only thing is, it takes a little longer to get to.<BR><BR>Congrats and all the best to you!<BR>

Yes Grenada is awesome. I love Grenada. You will be taking a chance with the weather if you go early Dec in GC. I would really think seriously about changing the destination, or wedding date. Good luck.

The last 2 years have been unusually wet and windy. Normally it hardly rains after Thanksgiving. It may be related to the El Nino thing. Those of us who depend on rain to fill our cisterns appreciate it, but realize vacationers don't. I got married on the island in January, and would say go ahead with your plans.
