Turtle Nest Inn - Honeymoon
My fiance and I are looking into the Cayman Islands for our honeymoon, next June. We have come across the Turtle Nest Inn and it sounds too good to be true. I was wondering if anyone had an information about it and the area around the Inn. Before we make reservations (ASAP) we want to make sure we are going to be in a good place and staying somewhere wonderful!!!! I would love to hear if anyone has been to the Turtle Nest Inn.....

We stayed at the Turtle Nest Inn for 3 nights last May, and we enjoyed it a lot. For the first 8 nights of our vacation we stayed at the Sunshine Suites near 7 Mile Beach, and then moved over to the TNI for the last three. TNI is definitely a cool place to stay. We splurged on the beachfront apt (although it was only $169, as I recall, so compared to some hotels it wasn't a splurge at all), and it was really cool to sit out on our little patio and hear and see the ocean.
It is definitely in a quieter location, and it does take some time to get to 7 Mile Beach, so you would definitely want to rent a car. We thought the beach was better at 7MB, but the atmosphere was really cool at TNI. It would probably be perfect for a honeymoon, in my opinion.

I planned a trip to GC in 2001 and I remember there being instances where the owner of TNI, was replying to posts and soliciting business openly. So I wouldnt be shocked by this at all.
Another good place to find recommendations is www.caribbean-on-line.com they have a message board and its another great resource for getting reviews
good luck you chose a great island for a HM

I just returned from my first trip to GC today. I found it really interesting to see the places that I had been reading about for months on this and other boards.
One of those I noticed was the Turtle Nest Inn. All I did is drive by on the road so I have no idea what it is like inside at all..but on the outside it wasn't too exciting.. what you see from the road is a parking lot and the side of a plain building. On one side of it is an empty building that is for sale and on the other side.. I don't remember. You definatly will not drive up to a pretty landscaped building etc. I would be disapointed when I drove up to it if I were staying there on my honeymoon, just on appearance. It was just so not what I expected. One thing I did not realize until I was there is how close everything is to each other.. the condos, hotels etc. on 7 Mile Beach etc. they are all right on top of each other.
If you are interested in a condo at all you may want to check out the different houses at Sea Cliff Resort..we stayed at the Teal House and it lived up to my high expectations. The houses are all just so pretty inside and out! Let me know if you would like more info on our stay there.

tdelano, I would love a trip report! We're going to GC in three weeks and I'm trying to soak up all the info and reviews I can. Thanks! Especially interested in restaurants, what snorkel guide you used, etc.

Hi,
Just to let you know my husband & I just got back from TNI & absolutely loved it!!! If you stay you will definitely want to rent a car so you can get around the island. Our room was immaculate & the people very friendly. Especially great was the coral reef! We went snorkeling to several places & the reef at TNI was really nice..we saw huge parrot fish, tarpon, stingrays & a ton of other fish. The inn is very quiet & most days we had the pool to ourselves. Also we weren't solicited to write this review.

My husband and I stayed at the Turtle Nest Inn a few years ago and really liked it. If you do a search you should be able to come across input that I provided.
TNI is not in the main tourist section of Grand Cayman on Seven Mile Beach, but rather is about 20-25 minute outside of town and is located in a residential area. It is on the beach, however TNI's beach is a little "rougher" than 7MB in that the sand was not as silky and there is a some "turtle grass" that you have to wade through when entering the water. Keep in mind though that the reason the sand is a bit more rough is that there is a reef right off shore from TNI so there tends be be alot of small broken coral mixed in with the sand. However it was nice to have the reef right there for snorkeling.
Our unit was really nice and incredibly clean. We went for the one bedroom, beachfront unit on the second floor which we really liked. I would definitely recommend getting beachfront. There is also a nice pool. Although small, many times we had it to ourselves. The owners were incredibly hospitable and provided us with a cooler and beach chairs that we used the entire week when exploring the island. One night they had a group dinner prepared for the guests that was also very good. I would have to say that their hospitality really contributed to the enjoyment of our stay there.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it. I recall that the price was also very reasonable. However, I think for our next trip to Gr Cayman we will stay somewhere on Seven Mile Beach, more on the north end of the beach which is quieter than the mid or southern sections. Although TNI was on a beach, I would really prefer being right on 7MB which is absolutely pristine ... sand like baby-powder with clear, tourquoise water.

I have stayed at Turtle Nest Inn on both trips I took to Grand Cayamn. Alain & Marlene are wonderful. Yes it is not on 7 mile beach and I found that wonderful. Not a lot of tourists have to share a beach with. I highly recommend it for your honeymoon. Everyone I spoke to at the Inn were either like myself repeat guests or were planning to come back again. Check out the webiste they have good package deals.
