I thought it was about time for an update on Turtle Beach as these posts and the photos especially are very out of date now
Turtle Beach on St Kitts underwent some dramatic redevelopment in 2007/08 after the old Turtle Beach Bar and Grill moved and was reborn on nearby Cockleshell Beach as Reggae Beach Bar & Grill. Same people, same great barefoot bar formula, and yes Wilbur is still there plus an new piglet I understand
In the meantime Christophe Harbour, which is building a mega yacht marina, golf course and various high end real estate on the south pensinsula, developed Turtle Beach as its showpiece for potentail new clients. The beach, which reamins public, has been cleaned up and is maintained well, and where the old Turtle Beach Bar & Grill once stood there is now the superb Beach House Restaurant. They have built some very tasteful bungalows on the beach, and have landscpaed the whole surrounding area, shipping in fully grown palm trees, and thousands of plants
The result, now that everyhting has had a couple of years to grow, is a beautiful, sophisticated and secluded end of the island where some of the best private villas are available for vacation rental. See VRBO and other websites for details
If you are going to St Kitts, Turtle Beach is well worth a visit
