Turks and Caicos with a baby

We're going to Turks and Caicos with our 4 year old and 4 month old kids. Has anyone taken a stroller to Provo? Are the streets nice for pushing a stroller? We're mostly planning on sitting on the beach or beside the pool, however we would like to get some groceries and eat in our room as opposed to always going out. We are at the royal west indes hotel - can anyone tell me whether we'd be ok walking to the grocery store? Any other advice?

There is a very small grocery store(more for snacks, etc.) quite close to you. The large IGA, with everything you could want, is not walking distance.

RWI may have a shuttle to the IGA, not sure. If not, you'll have to "cab it". The upside is that they have everything, the downside is expense, plus cabs are really pricy.

If it helps, we stay at Ocean Club West. If you look on the map, you will find the IGA about 5 min. walk from there.

As far as sidewalks, yes in the Ocean Club West area. We've walked up to "Coco Bistro", but not sure if they extend up to RWI. We have walked on the beach up to RWI for lunch.

That said, RWI is a really nice property. Go to the IGA, get what you need, and enjoy the beach. After 20+ yrs. of going to the Caribben, this is the best.

Thanks for the info - very useful! The RWI website does say it has a shuttle to the grocery store - good tip.

Provo is the perfect place to take babies/kids. Sand is like powder and doesn't get hot. The island is vey easy to get around either by walking or car. We stayed at RWI with our 11 month old daughter a few years back. They provide sand toys too.

Thanks for the reply! Did you use a stroller? We walk a lot at home, but we're trying to figure out if it is worth it to haul a stroller.

We did...we brought an umbrella stroller and it was perfect. From RWI, we could walk to some restaurants and a shopping area. They had the Gecko shuttle when we were there which used often but it's no longer in operation. The stroller is good for inside the resort too as it is kind of spread out.
