St Thomas from Boston 1/21/12
Hi, After much research I decided to book a house rental in St. Thomas to celebrate my 50th Bday! A big part of the decision was the non stop flight, Boston to STT which seemed to be a consistant winter flight, for years. Well, as of 4/2011 American Air is stopping it. I am so bummed as it turns into a day lost in travel, and some friends were only going 4 days.
Does anyone have any insight about a non stop flight Boston to STT? To get a good rate, i will be booking 3/1/11, but hate to miss a non stop if one is out there.
Feel free to also make suggestions on what to do to celebrate
thanks

To my knowledge, the nonstop on American has always been a high season flight only. There are no other nonstops (JetBlue, please change this!). San Juan is probably your best bet to change planes -- many flights to STT and it's a very short hop. Much longer travel time to fly through Miami.

thank you for the insight.
Boy have costs risen since i looked into this last year.
it was less than
$400 non stop round trip
now it will be close to 500, maybe more if i go to san juan via jet blue, then hop th st thomas.

Today is 2/13/11, and i have been watching airfares for a couple weeks...it is amazing how they keep escalating.
The AA flight thru miami was $400, and it was non stop a year ago. Now, that morning flight, is over $900-
I will be using continental or us air, but there fares went up today, again by $100-
I can book the 1/21/12 flight 331 days prior to then, which is about a week away, i am scared to see if they will all keep raising even more!
I am hopeful to get there and back for $500... we will see...

this is totally just my thought but i'd wait and see if things don't settle down in the middle east. i know shippers have been worried that they would lose the suez which drove the price up for the past 3 weeks. egypt says no, now that govt has changed, so possible price will go back down.

ok, i booked.
just fyi
i got $488 - US Air Boston/Charlotte/St Thomas
6AM departure, arrive at 2:30.
Not the best, not the worse. I am glad to have secured the price with the gas prices being so uncertain for the future.
