Turks and Caicos versus Grand Cayman
We have stayed at West Bay Club in T&C twice, enjoyed it very much, (nice quiet beach, lovely facility) but are wondering about Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach versus Grace Bay. We are planning a trip with our adult children and their infant. We will rent a car and need a condo hotel on the beach. Comparison re quality of beach, island aesthetic, near by restaurants, weather and general considerations. Is Grand Cayman nicer, better, different etc? We like the quiet location of WBC. Thanks

Maybe I can help. We've stayed multiple times at West Bay Club. And we used to go to Grand Cayman ( Villas of the Galleon) all the time when our kids were little.
The two islands are quite different. Grand Cayman is much more developed and commercial than Providenciales. Both islands have gorgeous beaches, but I'd have to give the nod to Grace Bay for sheer beauty and less crowds, at least in front of West Bay Club! There's more to do in Grand Cayman than in Provo: Day trips to the Turtle farm and Sting Ray City, lovely Botanical Gardens, shopping, plus all the usual water sports and some nightlife. I think restaurants are very good on both islands, but again, I'd give a slight edge to Provo because it's home to Bay Bistro and Coco Bistro! Both islands have huge American-style supermarkets, where everything costs at least twice what it does at home. But since you're used to Provo, you may not have sticker shock! The weather has been better in Turks, which has the reputation of being one of the driest islands in the Caribbean. We still remember some vacations that were a washout in Grand Cayman during February vacation weeks, although that can happen anywhere. Good luck with your choice! |
Been to Caymans twice
Been to Turks and Caicos more than 30 Turks is what caymans was 30 years ago TCI gets no cruise ships, I've seen 7 parked at one time in caymans Grace Bay beach is far superior the water is much more stunning. But, Caymans offers much more to do. It also has a huge loyal fan base. It is more fun. More choices for everything from food to shopping. Scuba is slightly better. Stingray City is very cool. If you remove scuba/snorkel out of the equation, most that love TCI also love Anguilla. |
