Turks and Caicos fun activities/nightlife?
 

Hello! first of all let me thank you all in advance for responding to my questions. My fiancee and I are planning our honeymoon for November 13, 2011. We were enchanted with Turks & Caicos postcard perfect beaches! We are planning on a short vacation about 6 days. Our main goal is to relax and enjoy the beach but we also want to do some nature sightseeing/fun activities for at least a day or two. We are in our mid-20s, but are not looking to party too much...does T&C offer nightlife activities at all? are there day activities besides snorkling? Perhaps ATVs or Jet Skies?
I want this to be the vacation of our lifetime and want to offer my wife :) the option of doing nothing but enjoying the beach or going on some fun activity/excursion, etc.

On a similar note, is November a low season for T&C? Does it rain often in November? My per night budget rate is approximatly $200 dlls per night, I am considering the following: West Bay Club, Ocean Club West, or Alexandra Resort....any idea whichone is best? Also, is a $200-$250 daily spending budget sufficient? or is T&C outside those budget parameters?

I realize there are a lot of questions in this post, but any advice is greatly appreciate!

The main attraction is water related activities like snorekling, sailing, scuba diving and swimming.

alexandra is newer than ocw & is located near the middle of grace bay beach.
ocw is one of the original resorts & on a nice section of beach.
west bay club is very small/intimate and a bit away from the main resort section of the beach.

we have been in nov. weather was hot & mostly dry. rained for 1/2 hr or so a couple times.

if $250/day includes your hotel then yes budget is too small

There is live music some nights, but some require transportation regardless of where you pick, so add $39 daily to your budget
Somewhere On The Beach has a great 3 tiered bar with live music some nights
NaDa plays at Seven Stars on the deck on Saturday's-- it's magical
There are DJs at Gansevoort on the weekends
I believe Tiki Hut has added live music on Friday nights
You can always get a night pass at Club Med with show and disco, includes all your drinks
I think there's a DJ Tuesday Biggs on the beach at Somerset
If after a full moon there is a pig roast on the beach at Bay Bistro

@ Virginia- I will absolutely dine at anacaona, it looks really nice. Great map too. I didn't realize west bay club was that far away. I've narrowed it down to Alexandra or OCW. As per the budget, is $200 per day (without hotel, but including the $39 car rental) for food and entertainment enough? I don't plan to splurge, but I keep reading that T&C is very expensive...

As mentioned, many of the activities are water/beach based but there are other fun things to do in TCI, too. Here's a pretty good list:

$150 a day for food and activities is stretching. Anaconda alone with no wine at dinner and you're there. You can stretch out a little by getting breakfast and/or lunch at supermarket. Restaurants for dinner at Mango Reef, Hemingways will put you out about $75. Nightlife drinks are expensive, beer runs about $8, wine and mixed drinks will put you out around $13-$20. If you don't get a car, taxi can end up costing more! Tiki Hut has rib night Wed nights for $13, and Danny bouys and Sharkbites are a little cheaper for drinks. Da conch shack is also a must do and on the beach, a little more economical.

With the car you can explore Sapadilla Bay and Taylor Bay and Chalk Sound (amazing sight!)

Excursions will put you out $90 plus tip per person for 1/2 day, but do not miss! I recommend Caicos Dream Tours or Island Vibes. You will not believe how terrific this is, like boating on a giant swimming pool with stops at stunning beaches.

the budget is a hard one to answer. a lot depends on how many activities you choose & where you eat.
much can be saved by using the kitchen in your condo. if you bring coffee with you and go buy some bagels or cereal, a/or buy mayo, mustard, some lunchmeat, cheese & bread. (i always take packs of tuna). a not fancy lunch in restaurant might run $20-40.
another way to save is (if you drink) pick up a bottle at duty free when you leave the US. a cocktail can run up to $15. a drink on your porch could be quite appealing...
on the other hand if you choose well there are some much more economical places. ie: sharkbite (good place to get cheeseburger in paradise) http://www.thesharkbite.com/menu.html

jorgeG, I don't quite remember that was back in 2006. We shared 1 jet ski and I'm thinking it was around $75 to $100 for the 2 hour guided tour.

One thing I would point out is that if you have a very nice day with calm winds, I would definitely take advantage of that and try to do the jet skis that day. When we were there we wanted to do the jet skis and a day where we could parasail, and we never got to do either one because of the windy weather. We almost didn't get to do our snorkel tour either because of the winds it was cancelled twice but we did finally get to do that. So just make sure the days when there isn't a lot of wind that you do those kind of things and if you have a windy day that you just do some relaxing on those days :-) Have a great trip!

my husband and I just got back from our honeymoon to Provo and WE LOVED IT! BEST DECISION WE MADE! Make sure to do a snorkle trip with Caicos dream tours and head to Graceway gourmet- the grocery store and pick up some food items- or pack non-perishables in your luggage- to save money. If you cook breakfast and lunch in your room then eat dinner out you can save a lot of money. If you want to explore the island- Taylor bay and Sapodilla Bay then RENT a car from grace bay car rentals- for $39 per day it beats taking a cab and you are free to come and go as you please- and they drop your car off at your hotel for you hit me up with more questions if needed
