Ocw is closer walk to supermarket
Sands is a nicer resort

As for worth it, I would say yes, but worth it is "relative". We don't know you so can't really say.

You'll need a car at either sooner or later to get to the better restaurants, possible snorkeling and explore chalk sound and other terrific beaches. Taxi cost more.

Our pool view Jr Suite at OC West had some OV. Next time we go, I doubt I would pay more for OV but would do OC West for sure. It was great. The garden/pool view from the room is a nice break from the 8-10 hrs a day on the beaches.

Only went to Sands for dinner, enjoyed Hemingways but liked OC West location and layout better. IMO- you can do T&C without a car from OC West but not Sands

we are just looking for a nice resort, walking distance to some restaurants, relaxing and enjoying the beach. the price range seems to be OCW or Sands. I just am having a hard time picking one or the other. I would prefer ocean view room if possible

The Sands...

I'm going to side with Frank. We've stayed at OCW 4 times and will do so again. You can walk to several restaurants(best being Coco Bistro & Coyaba) & the IGA. You are between Seven Stars & Grace Bay Club for all of the luxurious bars & restaurants you could want.

The beach is perfect and always has enough chairs & umbrellas for all. The river pool is beautiful. The bar and restaurant is right at the beach with tables with a view and has food in all price ranges. The grounds are very well taken care of. It is a very comfortable place to vacation.

That said, I'll tell you the only negative we found. 3 times we rented privately through VRBO.com and had newly updated units overlooking the pool. The 1 time we rented through the resort itself was a huge mistake. Having been there before we thought we'd get a small entry level studio and save some money. It was back by the road with a huge street light right outside our veranda so we had to shut the shutters at night. It also overlooked a maintenance hut of Grace Bay Club and the electric saws would start early in the morning. We complained to no avail.

So, I would upgrade to a Jr. Suite overlooking the pool to prevent the same thing happening. They do have oceanview units but they are quite pricy. Check on VRBO for better prices.

The Sands is newer but we like the location of OCW better.
