Trying to decide where to stay on Eleuthera

We recently changed our Caribbean destination for June from the DR to Eleuthera. I know next to nothing about it except it has great beaches. Usually I rent villas, but I might like a little more luxury this time around (it's our 40th anniversary) so I have narrowed it down to these places so far. They are all around the same price. I do like a pool for exercise because I don't swim very well in the ocean and, call me a wimp, but I like air conditioning. I have heard that insect bites are a big problem off resorts as well. Is that true?
Here are my thoughts so far:
Sky Beach Club (new resort, grounds still under construction, beautiful but smaller room, no kitchen, pool, A/C, wireless, nice beach, pool)
Pineapple Fields (beautifully landscaped grounds, twice as large as SBC, full kitchen, pool, A/C, internet, nice beach but across the road, no beach chairs, pool, Tippy's close by).
If anyone wants to make suggestions as to rental villas I would still be open to doing that.
Thanks guys and gals!

I've never been to Eleuthera but have been to other Out Islands. This site was posted on Fodor's recently and appears to be very insightful of the island.

Both Sky Beach Club and Pineapple Fields are covered under 'New Developments' in the Sleep section.

I have one of the homes in the villa section on our short list of future possibilities, Oceanaire. It does have one week available in June. It's also on VRBO as well as many others.

Pineapple Fields combines the best of hotel/villa. Complete kitchens and living areas with daily maid service and a great restaurant. I just stayed there last week - my fourth time. Great as always.

Sky Beach Club - unfortunately still looks like a major construction zone due to the massive clearing they did for the development. It will take years for anything to truly grow back given the environment.

Enjoy Eleuthera. Wonderful island.

That is a great site, RobertoB, I have it bookmarked and will be using it often for reference. Oceanaire is exactly what I would be looking for in a villa, but not available the dates we are going (flight is booked already). Bahamasmike, you reinforced my gut feelings about those properties. Which building do you stay in at Pineapple Fields? It's my understanding they don't have chairs on the beach there. What do you do about that? Have you have trouble with insect bites?

Maggi you will love Eleuthera. Still by far our most favorite destination for its beaches. Ten Bay has our vote.

Here's our trip report:

Do consider renting villa - we had enjoyed our place, Oceansong, immensely.

Cheers,
Ed

OK, I am taking your advice and getting more sold on the idea of renting a villa. Between some not being available on our dates and price considerations we are possibly narrowing it down to Rainbow Bay villa/aka Bahama Breeze http://www.bahamabreezevilla.com/villa.html

Anyone have any cautions about this rental or location?
