True Blue Bay Resort
 

Hi,

My fiance and I are thinking of going to Grenada for our honeymoon in Feb. 2009. True Blue Bay Resort is in the price range and area we're looking for, but I haven't seen too many reviews of it on this site. Has anyone stayed there? Would you stay again?

I haven't stayed there, but we stopped by to look around and have a cocktail last October. There is a nice bar and restaurant...good drinks and I had one of the best burgers ever (was craving a burger!). The hotel looked very nice...my only thing was is that it is on the water, but it's a marina, not a beach. It's also not very close to other restaurants or bars, if that is important to you.

I stayed at True Blue two years ago. It's truly a lovely property, but as caribqueen noted, it's a waterfront -- but not beach -- resort. Notwithstanding the lack of beach, there are two pools and the property is absolutely beautiful. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, but not luxe (the style is rather spare).

Grenada is a beautiful island with lots to offer. It's not easy to get there, but worth the trouble.

Like the others have posted, I think True Blue has a lovely atmosphere. And the price is right. BUt in terms of location and swimmable water, it leaves much to be desired.

Blue Horizons is superior in terms of location and convenience. I've not stayed there, but I've dined there and toured the property. If I didn't already have a favorite place to stay on Grenada, I wouldn't hesitate to book Blue Horizons for myself.

If a villa is of any interest to you, whose prices aren't substantially higher in the low season, check out Turtleback Pavilion on www.spiceislevillas.com. That's where we like to stay on Grenada. Tremendous privacy, full kitchen, private pool, rooftop deck and wetbar--it's amazing and at a really reasonable price, too.

Blue Horizons is a lovely place and, I believe that if you are staying there, you can use the facilities for free at it's sister resort, the Spice Isle Resort. It's much closer to several restaurants and bars, especially my fav little place, La Boulangerie...great pastries and pizzas! There is also a sushi bar and a wine bar close by.

I have stayed at both, but True Blue was some years ago, under different ownwership. I think what the other posters say is quite accurate. If you should choose it, you should rent a car. Blue Horizons is a first class operation. It is about a 5 minute walk to the beach and Spice Island, which is a sister property. In walking distance of some other restaurants and shops and public transport is easier to access if you don't want a car. Grenada is a lovely island with great people and a lot of interest. You will enjoy it.

caribqueen is mostly correct--If you stay at Blue Horizons you have guest privileges at Spice Island with the exception of using their swimming pool. At one point BH guests also received a 10% discount at Spice Island restaurant and the gift shop.
