Trip to Mexico or ..........
 

Hi My screen name should read Caribbean bound, Germany was the last trip and I got such great info and help from the Fodor's site I thought I would try again. I am hoping for some help in choosing a destination for a trip this Dec. during school Christmas holidays. My husband and I will be travelling with our 17 and 20 yr old children to an AI in Cancun, Mayna Riviera, or Cozumel. We enjoy the beach of course but would like to go snorkelling, possibly a resort dive, visit ruins, and other excursions. We are looking for suggestions on what might be the best choice or if you have other suggestions. We are certainly ready to explore other options.

Stick with Mayan Riviera or Cozumel if you want snorkeling. There are lots of great resorts. Lots to do as far as ruins and stuff in the MR. You can visit Akumal to snorkel or take the ferry to cozumel for the day. I recommend Secrets Capri since your children are adult. Great resort. Or one of the Iberostars. Can go wrong there.

Given your criteria, I would say the Playa Del Carmen area (Mayan Riviera) most definitely. Offers great snorkeling, beaches, ruins not far away, a ferry ride away from Cozumel and lots of resort choices.
