Caribbean Resort Rec - 40th b-day celebration with our 4 yo child
Looking for a nice resort to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday. Daughter is 4 years old and will be coming with us. So, we need kid-friendly, but would also like a luxury element (spa, etc.). All-inclusive is preferred, but that's flexible. The ideal destination can be reached with no more that 1 flight connection from Boston, MA (hometown). Travel dates are first week in May. Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance!

do you want a totally beach trip or do you want to "do stuff"?
if you want to do stuff - what? sports, tours, history, flora/fauna?
in the picture in your mind is the island lush & hilly with beaches in little coves or more flat & arid with gorgeous long white beach? (flat/arid usually better for snorkeling)
mega resort or mid size? how much is your hotel budget? how long will you stay?

Thanks for responding. We're primarily looking for a wonderful beach (soft white sand, gentle waves, etc.) and a great pool area. We'd also like a place that has water sports - little sail boats/kayaks/body boards you can take out, etc. If off-resort excursions were available (ruins, etc), that would be nice, but it's a lower priority.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Turks and Caicos may be a good choice for you. Good flights from Boston. Beautiful beaches and some very nice resorts. Not too commercialized. And most hotels come with a kitchen set up which may be convinient with your 4yr old.

I second turks and caicos. We went last year and stayed at the Regent palms. It was extremely luxurious, gorgeous pool, stunning beach. they have a small kids club. They are by no means kid-centric, but they are family friendly. There is also a spa on premises.
We don't do AI's so, i can't help you there, but the food on T&C is wonderful.
when we went to RP, they had a go 4 nights pay for 3 special going.
