Dolores, you might consider the Diamond Allegro resort in Cozumel. It is all-inclusive, and caters to both kids and adults. Some or all of the kids can participate in the kids club while they are there -- they have lots of fun activities, and are extremely well supervised. We took our three there this summer (ages 7, 10 and 12), and they chose not to, but still had a grand time. They put on nightly shows for the resort, and the kids get to play parts in the play -- they love it.
As for 'traveling with a lot of kids', it is no suprise that 8 families would have a lot of kids. I don't see the difference in that and 8 separate families traveling with kids. Still the same number of kids.

An AI resort lets the kiddos get a coke when they want, or a cheeseburger when they want, without having to worry about whether or not it is "time to eat".

I travel with my kids often, and most of the time, they're well behaved. In my experience, they are most well behaved when you can get to the resort quickly -- if you take 3 airplanes and all day to get there, you can't really expect all of them to be angels all day. After all, they're kids.

Good luck.

- Jim
