We want to come from Brazil without hassling through Miami. Does anyone know of a good way to charter a plane or a boat from Caracas to St. Vincent, cost, times, etc. Also looking at Young Island or PSV, which one would be better for a family with two kids, 11 and 13. We want to do sailing as well. Do either island have surfing beaches!!! Thanks!!!

Don't take kids to Young or PSV. They are romantic places for people to get away. There are plenty of resorts that cater to kids & where they would be happier.

I know that you can go from Caracas to Aruba or Curacao. From there you should be able to hop over to Trinidad and then island hop on Liat to get to St. Vincent.

Kids would hate Young Island and PSV, and, if there were kids going there I wouldn't want to be there.

Kids love PSV if they enjoy beach and water. The accomodations are great with the highriser in the sitting room area. We took ours and it was a lovely trip with lots of family time and the staff was wonderful with them.

I appreciate the honest feedback about kids' presence at PSV and Young Island. When you look at the websites all these places market for children (11 and 13, pre-teens, let's say, they are not screaming in the pool too much) so it is hard to tell. I have been to Aruba and thought it another Miami Beach. The BVI USVI St. Barths is my favorite but too hard to get to from Brazil. Anyone have a suggestion in the lower Carribean of a resort more appropriate because if there is a resort where we wouldn't want them, they sure won't want us either (to hang around just with adults, I mean!!!) Maybe somewhere in Curaçao, Tobago, Barbardos...thanks!

We took our kids to PSV last year and they had a great time on the beach and using the sea kayaks, snorkeling, etc. They have talked about going again. One of my best memories is seeing them play games, read and actually talk to each other without competition from tv, video games, etc. Good family trip. The cottages are so private, that nobody else was disturbed.

This is probably too late to be useful, but I flew from Caracas to St. Vincent by LIAT on a regular scheduled flight a couple of years ago. I assume they still fly this route.

BTW, I agree with those who thought that Young and PSV would be wasted on children.

kids thrive at PSV. Accomodations are set up for them with the extra bed(s).
