Tortola dock location to ferry to St. John?

We are considering a trip to Tortola and St. John in April- if we fly into Tortola and want to head to St. John first to visit some friends- how far is the ferry dock from the Tortola airport? Thank you! Susan

The ferry we took left from West End which is clear across the island from the airport. I'm not sure if there are ferries that leave from the cruise ship docks in Roadtown as well.

This link might help.

Ferries to St John usually depart, as Greenie mentioned, from the West End ferry dock, which is approx 45 mins drive from the airport (EIS). Some ferries from Road Town ferry dock (not the same as the cruise ship dock) travel via St John en route to St Thomas.

If you’re starting your vacation on St John, you might find it easier to fly into St Thomas (STT) especially if you can get a direct flight, and take the ferry from there. You can then catch a ferry from St John to Tortola for the second half of your vacation.

Hope this helps.
