Tortola
 

Has anybody been at Lambert beach Resort in Tortola? I'm going there in august and I'd like to know everything about the resort and the island too.<BR>Thanks to all.

Hi Michela -<BR>We have been to Tortola a couple of times and absolutely love it. Our next trip is in three weeks!!! and we'll be staying at Lambert as well, so I can tell you more when we get back. In the meantime, several folks have been there who say it's a reasonable, modest, clean place to stay on a gorgeous beach - see info on the BVI board at traveltalkonline.com. Also bvi.com is a great informative website. Any specifics about the island feel free to ask and I'll try to help. It's a wonderfully, peaceful, laid-back, non-touristy island.

Just returned from Tortola last week. Stayed at Lambert for one night. Very nice resort, great pool with swim up bar, wonderful beach, nice rooms with AC (they need it because there are only sliding doors for any ventilation) and a nice patio with wet bar and small fridge. Nicely landscaped and rooms offer some privacy. Beachfront is nice. Restaurant STINKS! bad food--eat else where. Nice service otherwise.<BR>Value=fair<BR>Service=good<BR>

Chezhed,<BR>thanks a lot for your suggestions....I'm worring about the restaurant...what's wrong with it?? Is there only a restaurant at Lambert?<BR>How long does it take to the nearest town?

I am also a Tortola/BVI lover.Michela, pros and cons of Lambert. It is on the northeastern part of the island and is close to the airport. There's not a lot close to the resort, I suggest you rent a jeep. It's about about a 15 min drive to Road Town (capitol) where there are restaurants, charters and the ferry to Virgin Gorda. You are pretty far from the "happening" spot of Tortola, Cane Garden Bay. You will probably want to go there at least twice! There are fantastic beach bars and restaurants there not to be missed! Make sure you pick up a "Limin Times" paper. Some places are closed in Aug- Sept. DO visit the traveltalkonline.com BVI board and read trip reports. I did this for 6 months prior to my trip, and I had a great trip because of it. Enjoy paradise!!!

Linda,<BR>cuold you tell me something about the Lambert Resort, Chezhed told me the restaurant is not really good at the resort, do they have just one restaurant?<BR>Is it easy to find taxis to go to Road Town and back? Is it expensive?<BR>Thanks for your help.<BR>Michela

I met a couple in Tortola who really enjoyed Lambert. They didn't comment on the food. Yes, they have one restaurant. I'm sure the resort can call taxis for you to take you to Road Town. Road Town doesn't have much to offer for shopping. Liked the Sunny Caribee for it's body lotions/shampoos and cooking spices. Made great gifts. Pusser's is in Road Town- a fun place. Go for a Painkiller- the food isn't anything great.We enjoyed the buffet at Ft Burt hotel (also inRoadTown)Check on which night this is offered. It is a romantic setting, complete with Carib cuisine and music.I still suggest renting a jeep at least for a couple days so that you can see other beaches and Cane Garden.There is great food everywhere. Really enjoyed the reasonable Palm's Delight on Carrot Bay. Cash only. If you plan on visiting Jost, you ferry from the West End which is quite a drive from Lambert. Consider a charter on the PatoucheII. Have fun! You won't believe how friendly the people are on this island.

Michela,<BR> Don't know about the fever, but we sprayed before going out daily and reapplied several times. Didn't have any problems then. We used OFF - a non-scented variety. Worked well. We did lots of snorkeling, didn't dive. However, we saw a place in Road Town that does dives. There are several cool shipwrecks and some interesting coral walls, caves and canyons. We stayed two nights at Lambert last December. We really enjoyed it. Our room was nice, the pool and swim up bar were fun, the food was very good, the service was not. We would stay there again.

Hi Michela - We will be at Lambert June 29-July 7. I'm an avid snorkler (can't dive due to major ear problems). I'm told that Dive BVI is a very reputable dive outfit and that the wreck of the rhone is a must dive.<BR><BR>Tortola is very hilly. Mt. Sage National Park is wonderful. The roads are in good shape and a small jeep is just fine to get around in. Lambert is on the NE side of the island and you really need a vehicle to go anywhere. Taxi's would cost you, so the price of the rental really is worth it. As I said before, Tortola is a very quiet island, it's not touristy and there's not a lot to do at night. If you're looking for a hopping party scene, you've picked the wrong island. Also note that hurricane season begins in June and runs to November, but typically August and September are the most risky months.
