Topless in St Lucia?

I've read that topless sunbathing on the beach, is a no no-on. I've traveled to the French West Indies previously, and though this island currently a British Commonwelth, is does have strong French influences.

Any confirmations?

Not done openly, if thats important than go to another island, or go to French islands. Hey thats the way it goes.

Though your answer seems a bit agressive, thank you for your confirmation.

I'd think it depends which beach you use - was there for ten days in February and stayed at the Jalousie Hilton. There were a few topless sunbathers there.

St. Lucia is not British West Indies or French West Indies. It is an independant nation. It is a stongly catholic island and do not like nudity.

We were told that technically it is illegal on St. Lucia, and officially it is frowned upon. Over the course of a week I saw noone topless at Jalousie Hilton or Ladera and only one woman at Anse Chastanet. Since St. Lucia gets many European vacationers it does happen occasionally but most people seemed to respect the local morays.

We stayed at Anse Chastnet and saw no topless sunbathing, but the opposite at Le Sport at the northern part of the island -- topless women every day there. We were only one of the very few Americans at LeSport -- lots of Europeans there.
