topless in Antigua?
 

My wife and I may be going to Antigua early next year. Are any beaches topless there? I know Hawksbill Resort has a CO beach. Can she sunbathe topless at the Sandals Antigua?

JC - I just returned from my weddingmoon at Sandals Antigua a month ago. The beach is beautiful and topless sunbathing is allowed. There were quite a few topless bathers daily at the pools. There was also a large group of couples with the women sunbathing topless on the beach. I didn't see anyone having a problem with it and it should be fine. Are you staying at Sandals? You won't be disapponted - we fell in love with the place. It's very laid back and romantic with great landscaping and beautiful sunsets. Have a great vacation!!

Topless was allowed at the beach and pool area of the Jolly Beach Resort but most, if not all the women put their tops on when they went in the water. Only kept it off to sunbath.

As a general rule of thumb in the islands - if an island is French then topless sunbathing is generally accepted on public beaches. If the island is either British or Spanish in heritage, then topless sunbathing is generally not accepted on public beaches, altho some resorts may provide private areas [private beach, private island, rooftop sundeck, etc]that allow it.

Tiffany is right. When we were at Sandals Antigua, there were several french couples that were staying there and the women went topless on the beach as well as at the pool.

Thanks for everyone's responses. We may be staying right next door to Sandals actually. Although I am sure it is wonderful, we do not enjoy all-inclusives. We prefer cooking for ourselves and dining out at a different restaurant each night.

We stayed at Royal Antiguan- many of the guests were British and many of the women were topless at pool and beach.
