Too risky not booking in early may St thomas?
We are 4 girl friends planning to go first week of may to st thomas, but we want to choose there the best front beach value price villa. Some one can inform us if its too risky or as is low season won't be a problem. Other tips to enjoy the island welcome.

Not sure what you mean by "risky" but early May would be a lovely time. It is "off season" so the crowds may not be there that you would run into earlier. There are a variety of accomodations that might suit your needs. One option for more moderate prices might be Secret Harbour or Sapphire Beach (more family activity oriented) which are both on excellent beaches. They both offer "condo" type setups with cooking and roomier than a normal hotel room. The East End offers a "quieter" part of the island with closeness to Red Hook for partying, dining and the ferry to St. John. You will want to spend part of your time on the wonderful pristine beaches of St. John and exploring there as well. You may want to take a trip to the BVI's for a day. If neither of these condo/resorts appeal, there are plenty of others. Some others can be seen @ www.vacation-rentals.org/

We are usually on island in October (which means that you can sneeze and not hit anyone!), in early December with a slight increase in tourists and then again usually in March. March is the most crowded. I have not been in May so I really don't know how crowded it is or when the cruise ships change the routes out of the islands which decreases the crowds and excitement in Town and on some of the beaches! I have no information as to availability of villas/hotels so wouldn't even guess but even in October, which is really a low time, there is plenty to do and people to do it with!! I don't know that I would be so adventuresome to go without a reservation tho, especially if you are looking for a villa rather than a resort/hotel.
