too many islands!!!
 

I plan on going to the caribbean the first week of may, and would like some advice. <BR><BR>I would like a nice beach, resort, scuba diving, and parasailing.<BR><BR>I also would like be able to feel comfortable to wander around at night. What island has some good nightlife, and is still fairly safe?<BR><BR>Ive been looking into the cayman islands, but ive read some threads that they have had pretty rainy weather in may??? <BR><BR>Also places like, antigula, barbados, aruba and jamaica intrigued me.<BR><BR>It would be appreciated if you could offer me your opinions on each island.

To help with your decision, you may want to look at Island Magazine's web site. www.islands.com Its really good, with lots of info on all the islands. <BR><BR>For great SCUBA, you might want to consider Cozumel, Belize or Roatan (Bay Islands, Honduras). Not much nightlife in Roatan, some in Belize, more in Cozumel.

My husband received a video of Curacao from Diver's Magazine and underwater marine life is fantastic! They briefly showed some of the hotels and the Marriott was a very nice hotel. You may want to check out the island.

Aruba has a lot of nightlife (bars, casinos) and it was very safe. We walked around downtown every night and never worried about anything. The beaches are beautiful. The rest of the island is desert void of any lush green vegetation.<BR><BR>Jamaica is a different story, while it is very pretty I did not feel safe at all. Resorts warn you about going into town.

We honeymooned in Antigua last year and while the island has beautiful beaches, offers scuba diving (not necessarily the best) and parasailing, I don't think you'll find much in the way of nightlife. I think if nightlife is a priority, Aruba or Jamaica would be the best choices.

Why not try St. Lucia. The scuba diving is excellent and they have great beaches. (different sand than other islands)The island is very safe and not commercialized or touristy. They have rain forests and the Pitons too. Very lush and tropical island. the island is not the TOP dog for nightlife however.
