tobago VS curaco
looking for good diving, rustic but nice accomodations with amenities(AC is a plus , but not necessary), and most accomodating to a group.Meal plans , close restaurants, dive operators, etc. etc.. If any one has been to both places can you provice some insight pros and cons of either place? will have some non divers with us as well.

Would you consider Belize. Is so there is a great resort for both divers and snorkelers called Turneffe Island Lodge. If Honduras equally cater to both then I like Anthony's Key Resort (a bit pricier). But both guarantee success and come with meal plan included. Tobago the snorkeling is fair at best and in Curacao the snorkeling is nowhere near the diving and an AL other than Breezes (which is not dive oriented) is not a great option. Just some thoughts. The airfares are higher by maybe $100 to Central America but no more.

I have been to Breezes Curacao a few times and it keeps getting better actually. Diving is pretty good in Curacao. I havenot been to Tobago yet but the diving quality is very high. There is an award winning diving company there called Ocean encounter. Very well managed company. I wouldn´t hesitate in trying Curacao.

I really like Curacao but the snorkeling is at the far West End betweem 40-60 minutes from most of the hotels (Breezes is on the EAST END)so logistically it may be an issuw if not search on this Forum for Curacao and I have identified the snorkel spots we visited on our 3 trips there over the past 6-7 years. We tried diving and it was iIMO fairly good but not as good as Grand Cayman, Bonaire and Tobago though not nearly as goodd as the last two mentioned is pretty good diving but as I said earlier snorkeling is spotty often with limited visibility.
I hope this helps. |
